I built a nice device to do just that.. Once POE came out the old reliable oil pump just wasn't going to cut it. I've done way to many oil changes because of H2O in the oil.

Its just an old solid core filter/drier casing I got out of the junk pile. Caped off the entrance and exit ports... Brazed in a tube which goes down to the bottom and has a shrader port on it. There is also another port in the lid which was factory installed.
After filling it up with POE. I dump in a small amount of N2 just to pressurize the tank. When I need to add some oil to a system I hook up the dip tube to the suction line and the other port N2 tank. Boom instant oil now in the crankcase.

However for small hermetic systems.... I just poor in what I took out into the suction port, with a clean funnel. If its POE just make sure you do it last.

could u show a pic of that process? for the oil charging i just use a watercooling tube, attach it to the compressor's service valve and then just fill it with the needed oil.... i used to do it with the mineral oil but now for poe i just dont know how to do it because the oil turns accid very quickly and when i charge the system up, it hurts the hoses and the parts where they were brazed...

btw how do u leak test the whole system w/o using the freon? r404a its too damn expensive *^*

Seeing that your having to measure the quantity of POE oil in. The way your doing it, pouring the oil in. Is pretty much the best way for these small compressors.
They say not to leave POE oil systems open for more than 15mins at a time. So just do it fast. After your done pressurize the system with dry nitrogen or refrigerant.

I use dry nitrogen to pressure test.

Why not use a big syringe to put the oil in the sytem? It would seem the easiest and cleanest way to do it with these small hermetic systems. No need to hassle with funnels etc.

Thats an idea.. humm
I dont know about in europe but here the POE oil comes with a cap and a sealed plug. You have to remove the plug on a new can of oil.
Could silver solder in a dip tube w/cap onto the oil can cap. A tube with enough diam. to get a smaller plastic tubing in, which will fit the syringe.
This way you'd only have to open the can once. The wax paper gasket inside the cap is enough to hold couple psi, if coated with oil.
